Two 14-yr-olds drown in lake, 3 others rescued

NAVI MUMBAI: Two 14-year-old boys drowned in a lake in Sai village, Panvel on Sunday afternoon. The two drowned children have been identified as Omkar Pawar and Pritam Mhatre.

Five children had gone for a swim in the Kusha lake. All of them were students of class 9. The parents of the children were unaware that the children were gone for a swim.

Three of them were rescued by a passer-by, said Santosh Thakur, a resident of Sai village. There were a number of drowning cases in the lake in the past, said Thakur. The Panvel taluka police have lodged an accidental death report.
