Star-studded celebrations at annual DAV United festival in Navi Mumbai

More than 500 schools and at least 50,000 students, along with their parents, attended DAV United Foundation's annual festival held recently in Navi Mumbai.

Arya Ratan Padma Shri Punam Suri, who is also president of DAVCMC New Delhi; Ajay Suri, general secretary, DAVCMC; and DAV United dean Nisha Peshin director (Academics and Public schools), along with directors, regional officers, and principals from DAV schools as well as top management heads of various agencies graced the 5th DAV United event on Jan 20 and 21.

Besides students and alumni, illusionist Tushar Kumar, Marathi folk singer Nandesh Umap, artistes Meet Brothers, Harshdeep Kaur, Leslie Lewis, Mahadevan brothers, and actors Siddhant Chaturvedi and Urvashi Rautela performed at the festival. Among the alumni who attended the two-day event were actor Rajesh Khattar, model-actor Manasvi Mamgai and comedianne Bharti Singh.

While actor Hrithik Roshan waved the tricolour on stage, actor Pankaj Tripathi recalled the role of DAV institution in "developing and fine- tuning" him. Film director Sanjay Tripathi, who came with the crew of his latest film, spoke about generation gap and co-existence. Noteworthy attractions included India Post Pavilion showcasing rare philatelic collections. tnn
