Navi Mumbai: There is finally a breakthrough in the deadlock over the controversial matter of feeding stray dogs at the Navi Mumbai airport site, as one can again start feeding the animals.
Welcoming the move, animal welfare workers have thanked MNS chief Raj Thackeray’s son Amit Thackeray for taking keen interest and ensuring the resumption of feeding of stray dogs at the airport site by talking to the officials of the Adani group who are in-charge of the on-site work there.

“Around five days ago Adani officials had stopped us from entering the airport site to feed over 400 dogs. We had earlier approached Cidco as well, but, it was of no use. Finally, after MNS leader Amit Thackeray took an active interest in this issue, we can now feed the dogs again,'' said animal activist Pooja Teli.
The Navi Mumbai head of MNS, Gajanan Kale, visited the airport site with his party supporters and interacted with the Adani officials to reason with them that it is important to feed the animals daily. The Adani executives then allowed Teli to enter the airport site to feed the dogs.
Animal activist Anand Siva said, “After all the project affected persons were rehabilitated to other places outside airport zone, the local village dogs were left behind as the authorities didn’t rehabilitate them. That is why compassionate animal feeders like Teli have been regularly going to the area to feed the surviving dogs. Recently, when the blasting work had started at the airport site, Teli was stopped from entering the area. I thank MNS for showing concern for this pressing issue, and talking to Adani group to restart the feeding process.''
