St Augustine’s, Nerul waives victorious football team’s fees

NAVI MUMBAI: The members of Nerul St Augustine’s under-17 girls’ football team received a grand welcome from their alma mater on Saturday. The girls’ team was the first in the city to win the state title at Subroto Cup Football Tournament.
Grace Pinto, head of Ryan Group of Institutes, announced that the school fees of the whole team will be waived off for their remarkable achievement.She had come to the Nerul school to encourage the team for the international competition.
“We were also gifted expensive wrist watches. We are elated with the honour,” said Ankita Shinde, a player.
The 16-member team will now play at the 55th International Subroto Cup Championship, which will see participation from all the states and some Asian countries. Pinto also announced a foreign trip for the girls if they perform well in the international event.
The victorious team includes Ankita Shinde, Afreen Peerbhoy, Shweta Kasurde, Pooja Dhamal, Pranali Shetty, Jyoti Mehra, Mamta Acharya, Mona Rajawat, Akanksha Kandalkar, Sruthilakshmi V K, Riya Tank, Poonam Kharade, Jigna Patel, Sneha Kathayat, Reetika Sahani, Yashmitha Mhatre.
