NAVI MUMBAI: A Cidco team in Rabale MIDC, with the help of local police, razed six unauthorized structures on Thursday. This was in response to the complaints by industrial unit owners, who alleged that illegal offices have been set up by various political parties in the area.
MIDC’s deputy engineer Avinash Mali said, “We demolished six offices of various political parties from 11am till 5.30pm, as these were constructed illegally on the MIDC-owned plots under the HT line in Rabale MIDC area.
The offices belonged to RPI, Samajwadi party, Bahujan Samaj party, Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress. The local industrialists had complained against the nuisance created by the political activists, as these offices had encroached upon MIDC plots. A partially-built religious structure, which occupied a portion of the plot belonging to an industrial unit, was also demolished.”
A strong force of around 150 cops was deployed for the drive to prevent any untoward incident by way of protest by the political activists. The drive took around five hours to be completed. Around 100 workers and a JCB machine were engaged to demolish the illegal structures.
