NMMC, with an estimated population of 15 lakh, had 6,605 cases on June 30, while on Saturday the total was 13,230. Panvel, with a seven lakh population, had 2,858 cases on July 5, which increased to 5,736. Rapid

tests have been done by the two civic bodies, with NMMC tests on Thursday and Friday being the most in MMR. The last three days, NMMC reported 330, 308 and 323 cases, while Panvel over 171, 158 and 157 cases. The corporations said they would maximise daily sample tests to break the transmission chain.
