Navi Mumbai murder: 24 hours after he jumped into DPS lake, police yet to find ‘killer’ boyfriend’s body
DCP (Zone 1) Pankaj Dahane said, “Our probe has revealed that the murder suspect worked at a medical store in Panvel. He was in a relationship with More, who was pursuing her graduation. Two months ago, Patil severed ties with her. Recently, he contacted her to resume their relationship but she refused. Hence, he called her for a meeting. Probably following an argument, Patil strangled her with his hands and then jumped into the lake.” DCP Dahane said as the lake flows towards Alibaug district, it is possible that Patil’s body might be washed ashore at Alibaug beach. “Hence, Raigad police are cooperating by keeping a vigil at the shores of all beaches there,” he added.

A 19-year-old woman's body was found in the mangroves near DPS lake in Nerul. Police suspect her boyfriend, Swastik Patil, strangled her and then jumped into the lake, where he is feared to have drowned. Local fishermen discovered the victim and informed the authorities. The search for Patil resumed the next day.
