NAVI MUMBAI: Panvel resident Kiran Inamdar (34), who was booked and arrested for forwarding the derogatory post of actor Ketaki Chitale against
NCP chief Sharad Pawar on Facebook, was sent to jail custody on Friday.
The Panvel city police had arrested Inamdar from Palspe in Panvel at 9 pm on Wednesday. Inamdar, who owns a food stall, was remanded to police custody for one day on Thursday by the Panvel magistrate’s court.
On Friday, Inamdar was again produced before court, which remanded him to jail custody.
On Wednesday night, women activists of NCP had reached the police station to protest but cops prevented them from entering and Inamdar was escorted into the police station with his face covered in a black cloth.
Vijay Kadbane, senior inspector, Panvel city, said, “Acting on a complaint by NCP activist Shridhar Bagal on May 15, we had registered an FIR against Inamdar and booked him under the relevant IPC sections for defamation, promoting enmity, spreading disharmony and hurting sentiments of NCP activists. As of now, it is not known if he is affiliated to any party.”
