Now, internal roads too in bad shape: Locals
Navi Mumbai: Motorists already facing a hard time because of potholes on the Sion-Panvel highway now have to deal with bad condtion of internal roads laid by the civic body.
Some bad roads identified by commuters include the approach road to Sanpada railway station, service road towards Jui Nagar railway station, traffic junction at Vashi, road adjacent to Nerul’s Wonder Park and the approach road to Ghansoli station.
“The internal roads are showing signs of wear and tear. In parts of the city the roads are filled with potholes and NMMC has not done the repairs,” said Navneet Raj, a Belapur resident.
The roads in Ghansoli are said to be in a dire state. “The approach roads have been in a bad shape for the last two months but the civic body has not taken any action to ease commuter’s grievance. There is not a single road in this node which doesn’t have at least 8 to 10 potholes,” said activist Rajeev Mishra.
The locals said whenever they raise the issue of lack of basic infrastructure NMMC is quick to state that Cidco has not handed over Ghansoli node to NMMC but this has not stopped them from levying taxes.
“Owing to continuous rainfall, the repair work has been delayed but it has been assured that prior to Ganpati festival all the stretches which have damaged will be repaired,” said an official from the engineering department.
