NAVI MUMBAI: The Anti-narcotics cell (ANC) of Navi Mumbai crime branch have arrested a Nigerian national for selling narcotics in Taloja area. The cops of seized narcotics collectively worth around Rs 26 lakh.
The accused Nigerian identified as Ifeanyi Christian Iyida(43) was found in possession of 21.16 grams of Mephedrone drugs worth Rs 4.23 lakh and 106.74 grams of cocaine worth Rs 21.20 lakh.
Sandeep Nigade, senior inspector of ANC informed that the arrested accused Nigerian Iyida had come to India on medical visa and was residing at a rental flat in Taloja for past six months.
"From Nigeria, he came to Delhi and after his visa expired, he travelled by train to reach Navi Mumbai and stayed at a rental flat in Taloja, after approaching an estate agent. As the estate agent identified Gokul Gaikwad had not submitted the rental agreement to Taloja police station, he has also been booked for the offence. Even the flat owner has been booked for not informing the police after renting his flat," Sandeep Nigade said.
ACP (crime) Ajay Landge said, "The arrested Nigerian national has been remanded to police custody till Oct 14. The accused estate agent Gaikwad has previously rented apartment to Nigerian nationals in Taloja node without informing the local police. "
