Navi Mumbai: Even as residents of the sector 3, Vashi building struggle to find a solution to their problem, politicians from various parties have joined in with their suggestions. Mayor Sudhakar Sonawane said that the civic administration’s failure to build transit camps needs to be addressed.
“Cidco constructed buildings are in a poor state and the possibility of NMMC requiring to rehabilitate its occupants cannot be ruled out. But there are no transit camps to do so and the issue must be taken up,” he said.
Although the Vashi building has not been declared as dilapidated by the civic body, MLA Manda Mahtre assured the residents of providing alternate accommodations through Cidco.“I don’t want them to risk their lives by living in a building that unstable. But since residents demanded alternate accommodation, I have stated asked Cidco to do the needful,” said Mahtre.
Corporator Kishor Patkar said Cidco must take responsibility and provide reprieve to the residents.
