Mumbai rains: Matheran gets its highest rainfall of the season
Matheran topped the list with the heaviest rainfall of 360 mm in the last 24 hours (till 8.30 am on Wednesday).
NAVI MUMBAI: Several parts of Raigad district received heavy rainfall since Tuesday evening, and Matheran topped the list with the heaviest rainfall of 360 mm in the last 24 hours (till 8.30 am on Wednesday). This is the highest rainfall that the picturesque hill station town has recorded in the season so far. Panvel taluka received the second highest rainfall of 254 mm in the past 24 hours, while Roha taluka got the least amount of rain at 62 mm.
Officials at the Alibaug based disaster management cell informed TOI that two persons were killed in separate incidents in Uran and Alibaug talukas on Tuesday evening.

"A 30-year-old man, Kiran Kadam, was electrocuted at Mothi Jui village of Uran taluka as an electric pole had fallen down on Tuesday. Also, a 60-year-old local, Lakshman Govind Naik, drowned in a pond where he had gone to bathe in Alibaug taluka,'' said a Raigad district official.
Waterlogging was also seen on the streets of Uran city due to continuous heavy rains since Tuesday. On the whole, Uran taluka received a 240 mm of rainfall in 24 hours, till 8.30 am on Wednesday.
There is no cyclone threat, and everything is in control in Raigad district despite the heavy rainfall in the last 24 hours. We are also monitoring all the 32 dams and seven major rivers in the district; there has not been any untoward incident,'' said Sagar Pathak, officer in-charge of the Raigad disaster management cell.
