NAVI MUMBAI: City is set to celebrate Ganeshotsav from Monday but most of the streetlights on internal and arterial roads have not been functioning for last several weeks, alleged residents. This makes bringing Bappa home and shopping for puja items at nearby markets after sunset a tedious task, they added.

“The festival is observed by most households and the bad roads and defunct streetlight make bringing Bappa home a nightmare,” said Vashi resident Santosh Gaikwad.

Residents want NMMC to fix the streetlights immediately so that they can enjoy the festival and the authorities have promised to fix the non-working lights soon.

Sunil Lad, NMMC executive engineer (electrical) said, “The repair work is on at many places. A complete restoration of all streetlights will be done in the next couple days.”
