Mom of two teens among those killed on Mother's Day, her sons survive mishap

NAVI MUMBAI: In a tragic incident on Mother's Day, a 38-year-old woman from Nalasopara who was travelling with her two sons died in a bus accident at Ghonse ghat in Mhasla on Sunday morning.
Both her sons survived the accident. The trio, along with their relatives, were heading to Shrivardhan for the summer vacation. Victim Ashwini Virwadkar (38) died on the spot while her elder son Pankaj (16) has been admitted to MGM hospital in Kamothe with grievous injuries.
The younger of the two, Sarthak (14), suffered minor injuries and has been sent to their native Dhangarmalai village in Shrivardhan taluka. "Ashwini's husband Shailesh Birwadkar is an accounts and finance department staffer with a well-known company. They have been staying at Nalasopara for the last 12 years. Pankaj is studying in class X while Sarthak is in class VI," said Sameer Sable, Ashwini's brother.
