MNS neta says Amit Thackeray assaulted him

Navi Mumbai: State vice-president of MNS and national president of Marathi Kamgar Sena Mahesh Jadhav has alleged that he was assaulted by Amit Thackeray, the son of MNS chief Raj Thackeray, and some MNS activists. The alleged incident occurred at Amit’s office in Dadar on Tuesday.Jadhav has uploaded a video on Facebook wherein he is seen bleeding due to injuries to his head. Jadhav claimed that he had gone to meet Amit Thackeray in Dadar to demand that the mathadi workers, including non-Maharashtrians, be allowed to work as head loaders. After an argument, he alleged, he was assaulted. Meanwhile, MNS leader Bala Nandgaonkar has released an official letter stating that the party is not responsible for any activities conducted by MNS Marathi Kamgar Sena office-bearers, as they have been expelled. A party source alleged that there were many complaints against Jadhav in Navi Mumbai including those of extortion. “He came to Amit Saheb’s office and spoke rudely,’’ said the source. —George Mendonca
