Missing Malad engineer’s burnt bones found in Maharashtra's Chiplun, 2 arrested
NAVI MUMBAI: Chiplun police in Ratnagiri district have cracked the murder of Ehjazhussain Faiyazhusain Qureshi (54), a Malad-based mechanical engineer whose skeletal remains were found on farmland in Rampur village on March 28, four months after he went missing.
Within 24 hours, police arrested the prime accused, Vishal Khoddekar (28), a Rampur-based real estate agent, and his aide and lover Jannatunisa Khan (34) from Malad.
Police inspector Fulchand Mengade said a tip-off from Dr Raorane from Rampur village led officers to partially burnt human bones, silver rings, house keys and a steel intramedullary nail at the site.
Medical reports confirmed the remains as human. During probe, police linked the case to Qureshi’s missing complaint filed on Nov 25.
His wife had suspected Khoddekar over a monetary dispute. She also confirmed Qureshi had a steel rod implanted in his leg, helping identify the remains.
During interrogation, Khoddekar confessed a dispute over a Rs 4 lakh rental deposit involving Khan resulted in Qureshi’s death.
Both accused have been remanded to police custody till April 4.
