NAVI MUMBAI: The Vashi GRP has arrested a 33-year-old man for stalking a woman while travelling in the Panvel-CSMT train at Nerul station.
The incident happened on Tuesday past midnight while the woman with her daughter and a friend were returning to their Wadala home.
The accused was nabbed by the woman's brother after he saw him clicking their photos on his mobile. The accused was thrashed by the commuters and later handed over to Wadala GRP. Thereafter, the case was transferred to Vashi GRP, where the accused was arrested after a stalking case was registered against him
Sambhaji Katare, senior inspector of Vashi GRP, said, “The arrested accused, Farid Ansari, is a resident of Mankhurd. He was produced before CSMT railway court on Tuesday morning, where he was remanded to magistrate custody and then released on bail.”
Katare further said that as the women boarded the ladies coach of Panvel-CSMT, the accused, too, followed her in the coach.
The complainant’s sister with her daughter and friend shifted to the adjacent general compartment. But, the accused followed them and boarded the same compartment and clicked their photos on his mobile.
