NAVI MUMBAI: A stray
dog
that had got stuck in tar at Kharghar was rescued by firemen after it was left struggling in it for about a couple of hours.
A few animal lovers had informed the fire brigade late on Tuesday that a dog was stuck in a cavity by the roadside in sector 21. "Our fire team led by senior fireman R H Balmiki assisted by K Tandel, B Unavane and Pravin D went to the spot and rescued the dog," said an official from Kharghar fire station.
Animal activist Umesh Bagade said, "The dog was caught in a hole partially filled with molten tar... It looked terrified. We suspect someone pushed it inside."
The firemen first calmed down the dog who was howling. "Once the dog was at ease, the firemen gently pulled it out from the sticky situation."
With tar still stuck to the rescued dog, locals are trying to apply vegetable oil on the affected skin.
