Maharashtra assembly elections: Activist appeals Navi Mumbai residents to vote
NAVI MUMBAI: 'Vote, like your whole world depends on it. Because it does.' 'Don't be a hypocrite. Vote.' Posters with such positive messages to encourage citizens to go out and vote in large numbers on October 19 have been put up in nearly 200 societies in the
"We have pasted such 'Go Out and Vote' posters in the lifts of various residential societies in the city in order to get the maximum views. The message is quite simple and clear: that governments are made not just by those who vote, but also by the section of the society that does not vote. So, if you want a good government of your choice, you must vote on October 19,'' said Sharma.
He further said, "Among the rich, barely 20% of the people cast their votes during national and state elections. The voting turnout is much higher among the poor and the middle class. If we can get a better voters turnout during the polling days, the ruling government will not be able to take us for granted and will actually start working for the public."
