VASHI: The Navi Mumbai-based lawyer, Yogesh Bhardwaj, who has been charged with
rape, cheating and assault by a 24-year-old Vashi woman, said he is "innocent".
In an email sent to TOI, after the story was published on Wednesday, Bhardwaj stated that he will file for anticipatory bail in the Bombay high court after January 25 to the media.
His anticipatory bail application was recently rejected by the Thane sessions court.
Navi Mumbai police officials have stated that they are unable to arrest Bhardwaj as he is currently untraceable and his mobile phone has also been switched off.
Bhardwaj also said that he had helped the victim file a case against her tutor in 2011 on humanitarian grounds on humanitarian grounds. He added that the victim's FIR against him is fabricated. On the accusation that he was convicted and jailed for the murder of his wife, Prachi, in 2003, Bhardwaj said that he was released through an appeal bail in the high court. Navi Mumbai police is still trying to trace the lawyer.
