NAVI MUMBAI: A scooterist from Kamothe, Anand Virkar (42), a wardboy at KEM Hospital, died and a car driver was seriously injured on Mumbai-Pune Expressway on Sunday. The driver stopped the car. Seeing the car, a van driver slowed down but a truck dashed the van.

This is the second incident within a month when a no entry vehicle entered into the Eway resulting in a mishap. Earlier, a luxury bus collided with a tractor resulting in the death of seven people.

The car was driven by Pune resident Rizwan Khan (25), who allegedly caused the mishap, said officials of Panvel taluka police station. The scooterist fell on the first lane of the Eway and sustained grievous injuries to the head.

The tempo was being driven by Dhiraj Prajapati (24), also a resident of Pune. Prajapati's leg was trapped in the van and he sustained major injuries. The truck driver, Dinakaran (25), from Tamil Nadu, lost control. The truck crashed into the Eway divider.
