NAVI MUMBAI: The civic body will soon ask housing societies and construction sites to follow specific measures to prevent breeding of mosquitoes.
In a first-of-its-kind initiative, the civic malaria department has printed over 2,500 circulars detailing the steps to be followed to avert malaria and dengue. “This awareness programme is over and above the routine activities by the urban health department.
The societies tend to take circulars issued by the headquarters seriously,” said Malaria department in-charge Dr Ujwala Otukar.
Similar circulars are being handed over to developers as well. The department has identified 450-odd construction activities where the civic body wants certain rules to be followed.
Some of the directives include keeping tanks sealed, disposing waste materials, using guppy fishes to kill mosquito larvae.
