History-sheeter assaults woman shopkeeper for not giving free cigarette
NAVI MUMBAI: Khandeshwar police have launched a manhunt for a history-sheeter for assaulting a woman who runs a grocery shop after she refused to give him free cigarettes. The accused hit the woman on her head with a plastic tray outside her shop for keeping milk packets and caused her severe head injuries. The incident occurred in Vichumbe village in Panvel taluka on Sunday night.
While the Khandeshwar police have registered an FIR against the accused under relevant sections of BNS for causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapon or means, the injured woman's husband has demanded to register attempt to murder case against the accused and complained to CM Devendra Fadnavis, Police commissioner Milind Bharambe and other concerned higher authorities of Navi Mumbai police for taking appropriate legal action against the accused history-sheeter.
The injured woman has been identified as Nalini Patil (54) who is a retired Anganwadi worker and the wanted accused as Ghanshyam Bhoir (30).
Smita Dhakane, senior inspector of Khandeshwar informed that, the accused Ghanshyam Bhoir is a history-sheeter as several body offences are registered against him. In 2013, he was externed from Navi Mumbai for two years. He has gone absconding after an FIR was registered against him. On Sunday around 8.30 pm, the accused Ghanshyam Bhoir along with his friends, Jayendra Patil and Rajesh Mhatre had gone the woman's grocery shop which is owned by her husband Bhau Patil who is an auto rickshaw driver. Bhoir asked for free cigarettes, when Bhau Patil said that I will give cigarettes to Jayendra and Rajesh, but I will not give cigarettes to Ghanshyam Bhoir, as Bhoir comes takes cigarettes without paying. Bhoir got annoyed and picked up a quarrel with Bhau Patil and banged a plastic bucket in front of the shop. Bhoir's friends took him away but he returned alone after some time and again started abusing and quarrelled with Bhau Patil, when his wife Nalini and daughter-in-law Sujata intervened. Bhoir picked up the plastic milk tray and assaulted on Nalini's head causing her grievous head injuries. She was rushed to Panvel sub-district hospital where she received 27 sutures for her head injury. She was discharged on Wednesday.
