NAVI MUMBAI: A new mobile application is being launched soon that will help parents keep a check on their child's eating habits, fitness routine and energy levels. The app (FitterFly which can
be downloaded from Google stor and Apple) which can be downloaded free is being initiated by FitterFly, an organisation that helps children maintain good eating habits and assesses their health.
Parents can.download the app, submit details and doctors will guide parents as their child grows.
The program which was lauched a while ago now also works with pre-schoolers? to assess their health, nutrition, exercise and eating the right foods. "We use smart technology to assess various components of their food and each child's requirement. The fitness tests flow the international standards," explained co-founder Dr Arbinder Singal.
"We aim to make sure children get the right nutrients appropriate for their age and the right exercise that allows them to develop into healthy adults. We guide the parents to chart the child's diet and then we analyse the essential nutrients, calories, proteins, calcium, iron, zinc and vitamins," Dr Singal continued.
According to the doctors involved in the program ?a child's lifestyle today leads to a higher risk of diseases such as obesity, diabetes and heart ailments. "Diabetes and heart disease will become more common and this will be due on account of thw imbalance in activity and nutrition and these anomalies set in as early as pre-school years," he said. With children playing lesser and eating less nutritious food, parents ?don't have any access to any program that can pinpoint the imbalance and help the child be healthy. "FitterFly was started to fill the gap and while western countries have such programs, we were lacking in the initiative," Dr Singal said.
