Father Agnel wins district basketball tourney

NAVI MUMBAI: With two wins at the district level inter-school basketball championship held at Father Agnel Sports Centre on Monday, Father Agnel, Vashi will now represent the city at the zonal competition. With stupendous display of dribbling, Darshana Deepak and Ishita Surve led their school to win over Christ Academy of Koparkhairane in the under-14 girl's category.Agnel's under-17 girl's team also mustered an impressive win over Dr D Y Patil International School of Nerul. "We had won all three titles in the boy's group last week and now these two wins, taking our tally to five titles. Our real challenge will be at zonal meet," said Ravi Nair, sport head of Agnel.
In the under-19 girl's category, Christ Academy won over DAV Public School of Nerul in a closely fought final encounter to win by 15-11 scoreline.
