Explore yoga, zumba at Happy Streets

Literacy Drive Among Other Highlights
NAVI MUMBAI: As the zumba stage has been crowded in the past editions, this Sunday Happy Streets’ participants can try out power yoga at a dedicated arena facing the picturesque DPS Lake along service road. The activities have been are devised looking at the vacation hangout for kids and their parents.
“Happy Streets has become part of our Sunday morning regime with friends and relatives. It gives us both fitness and entertainment options in a beautiful atmosphere along the vehicle-free road without fear of being knocked down by speeding vehicles. I can’t afford to miss a single Sunday,” said Amit Pawar, a regular.
Rotary Club of Satellite City Navi Mumbai will be promoting literacy at Happy Streets while seeking support of the people to donate old books which will be used to set up libraries in Navi Mumbai. The members will also encourage people to support cleanliness.
Besides, award winning non-profit organization Goonj would be putting up an awareness stall in an effort to connect with local residents for hands-on involvement in social activities.
“Kids are capitalizing on the plethora of activities on offer during the summer vacation, which is a wonderful trend to engage them in outdoor games,” said B K Mohan, a senior citizen from NRI Complex.
Cycling has its own footprint here where kids and adults make the most of it. Patanjali Yoga stage will have a session of yoga for all age groups. Looking at the increasing demand for yoga the experts have split sessions to suit across age groups.
Happy Streets is an initiative of NMMC and Traffic Police, powered by Prajapati Developers and supported by TOI. It is held every Sunday from DPS Bypass Street to Kille Gaothan bus stop, opposite NMMC headquarters, on a stretch of 1.1 km between 6.30am and 9.30am.
Zumba, dance fitness, bokwa, dance performance will be conducted at the TOI main stage. Rent-free cycling, street soccer, badminton will be some of the major features. TOI’s rent free cycling will have the restricted slot to issue cycles to participants by 9am in order to clear the street by 9.30am. Rent-free cycling is allowed for 15 minutes for participants aged above 16 against government-issued identity cards.
