Covid-19: 'Raigad ahead of containment ratio, sampling in the country'

NAVI MUMBAI: Raigad district with estimated 30 lakh population has the highest containment ratio of households per positive person as also the samples tested per million, both in the state and in the country, according to collector Nidhi Choudhari.
The doubling of Covid cases in the 11 days from June 24 to early July 3 has gone up to over 30 days. Antibody tests conducted, largely by industrial units.The government orders have boosted the measures of the administration's antigen and swab tests
The six tehsils in the district that come under MMR are industrial belts while another two not in MMR also have industries. These areas had reported a spike in positive cases last month. The remaining seven of the total 15 tehsils have small numbers of cases.
Cidco MD Lokesh Chandra who holds additional charge as Konkan divisional commissioner told TOI that Raigad was a concern as other two districts were under check. He said more antibody tests were being planned.
The collector observed, "Our field level officers and workers have a good network and spread. I have ensured proper monitoring".
