Cidco stops collecting trash in Panvel nodes
Navi Mumbai: The rift between Panvel City Municipal Corporation (
Cidco chief health Officer Dr B S Bawaskar said, “As instructed by our MD we have stopped garbage lifting from the New Panvel, Kalamboli and Kharghar nodes from Wednesday.”
PCMC is repeatedly seeking extension to take over garbage collection work in its area, said Dr Bawaskar. “Seeking extension has become a routine affair,” he added.
Kalamboli Sector 5E resident Ramesh Choudhari said, “The litter bin close to our house has been stinking as it has not been cleaned.”
Cidco employed over 22 contractors and their 589 workers are sweeping the roads in Kharghar, Kalamboli, Kamothe, New Panvel, Navade and Taloja of PCMC. Around 700MT garbage has been piled up in these areas.
PCMC health and sanitation committee president Dr Arunkumar Bhagat said, “We have convened a meeting of the PCMC administration on Friday to take decision.”
Bhagat added, “We can hire the Cidco contractors to continue the work, or pay Cidco to do the work or finalise our own contractor, which is the least feasible option now.”
