48 hours on, ‘killer’ BF’s body found in rivulet

Navi Mumbai: Forty-eight hours after fishermen saw a youth jump into Nerul’s DPS lake after allegedly killing his girlfriend in the mangroves nearby, his body was found floating near Ganeshpuri jetty at Waghivali village on Friday morning. Police teams on speedboats had searched for the body of the murder suspect, Swastik Patil (21), from Wednesday evening. They found it in a rivulet about 3km from the crime scene.DCP (Zone 1) Pankaj Dahane said, “Victim Bhavika More (19), found in the mangroves, was taken to a civic hospital where she was declared brought dead. As More’s maternal uncle had lodged a police complaint alleging she was strangulated to death and Patil accompanying her had jumped into DPS lake thereafter, as seen by the local fishermen, initially an FIR of murder was registered against an unidentified accused. As the murder accused has been found dead, the investigating police officer will submit an abated summary in court to seek closure of the case.”Satish Kadam, senior inspector of NRI coastal police station, said, “The coastal security police team in a speedboat, upon nearing Ganeshpuri jetty at Waghivali village in the jurisdiction of NRI coastal police station, spotted the body in the rivulet.” Patil’s family members were called to the hospital to identify him. His body was handed over to his family for conducting his final rites.
