Bizwoman robbed of ₹1L by sacked employee

Navi Mumbai: A 58-year-old businesswoman’s cook-cum-driver, who had been sacked by her four months ago, allegedly robbed her at ‘gunpoint’ in Navi Mumbai on Wednesday.The accused, Arun Kadam, went to the businesswoman’s 10th-floor apartment in Bhoomi Oscar Tower in Sector 9, Ghansoli, on Wednesday around 7.30 pm. Allegedly brandishing a ‘pistol-like’ weapon, he robbed her of her 15-gram gold chain worth Rs 75,000 and forced her to transfer Rs 30,000 to his e-wallet before escaping. The accused has been captured on the CCTV camera surveillance while exiting the building around 8 pm. Acting on a complaint by Vrushali Dalvi, the Rabale police have booked the accused for robbery.Sanjeev Dhumal, senior inspector of Rabale, said that Kadam worked for the complainant for four years.Dhumal said Kadam went to his former employer’s house when she was alone at home. Kadam claimed that his salary was pending, after which an argument ensued between them. The complainant has alleged that Kadam forced her to hand over her gold chain. He also made her transfer Rs 30,000 to his bank account. Inspector Dhumal said, “We have leads that Kadam escaped to his hometown in Konkan.” — George Mendonca
