A businessman from Koparkhairane lodged a police complaint alleging that a youth, who is currently based in Saudi Arabia since January and was acquainted to his daughter, is making extortion threats.

NAVI MUMBAI: A businessman from Koparkhairane lodged a police complaint alleging that a youth, who is currently based in Saudi Arabia since January and was acquainted to his daughter, is making extortion threats.
The accused claimed that he has links with a notorious criminal gang operating from Mumbai and will harm the complainant's daughter if his demand of Rs 5 lakh is not met, alleged the complainant.

Senior inspector Satish Gaikwad said that the complainant, requesting anonymity, alleged that the accused, a 25-year-old youth Mohammad Shakil Azmi (25), who owns a medical store in sector 20, Koparkhairane, was acquainted to his daughter who is a medical college student. The accused is living in Saudi Arabia at present and has called around 150 times on the man's mobile, threatening to harm his daughter if he does not get the money.
"The accused has posted some 'morphed' pictures of the girl and him on Facebook and threatened to make them public if the complainant did not give him the money. The businessman has produced documentary evidence of the calls and Facebook posts. We have taken the complaint of the businessman and also his daughter and registered a criminal case against the accused, who has been booked under the relevant sections of the IPC and IT Act," added Gaikwad.
Section 385 (Putting person in fear of injury in order to commit extortion) , 507 (Criminal intimidation by an anonymous communication) of the IPC and also IT Act under Section 67(A)."
