Navi Mumbai: The civic body must get 100% consent from the association of apartment owners in order to approve a redevelopment proposal. “The ambiguity which existed about the percentage of consent was raised and cleared with the Urban Development department. The rules of Maharashtra Apartment Ownership Acts are to prevail for which 100% consent is required,” said the civic chief Tukaram Mundhe.
But the corporators representing the areas that were scheduled for redevelopment, said getting 100% consent is impossible.
“Association members have failed to come to a consensus even about issues like setting up a simple rainwater shed, so 100% consent will never happen in a major issue like redevelopment,” said corporator from Belapar, Vilas Dolas.
The directive will delay in redevelopment process, said netas. “Numerous flats are rented out or brought as investments and the owners are not keen on redevelopment,” he added.
Vashi corporator Kishor Patkar said he spoke to Mundhe about it.“The administration has been misled about the issue. In case of additional alternation in a building, 100% consent is required. For redevelopment, as per the Act, 51% consent is needed,” he said.
