NAVI MUMBAI: The process of demarcating wards for Panvel Municipal Council elections, to be held in November, has started. Panvel sub-divisional officer, Bharat Shitole, headed the lottery draw exercise and 48 wards have been demarcated.
PMC will have 48 elected representatives, as against 38 in 2011, as the population rose from 1.4 lakh to 1.8 lakh.
Panvel Teshildar Dipak Akde said, “The election exercise will continue till formal notification of the proposed Panvel City Municipal Corporation is issued. Once formal notification is issued, the exercise will be stopped.”
PMC chief officer said that objections to the ward limit or area will be sent from July 5 to 15 to the Raigad collector.
