Navi Mumbai: The health condition of three conservancy
“For many months, the administration has been only giving false assurances for providing the revised wages. Few of the workers complained of uneasiness and had to be admitted in the civic hospital,” said the secretary of Samaj Samta Kamgaar Sangh, Mangesh Lad.
The civic administration has been accused of not adhering to the 2017 General Body’s decision of implementing the Minimum Wages Act with arrears. “From April 2018, the revised salary structure was to be implemented and the workers were to be paid their dues along with arrears starting from June 2017 onwards. In spite of the General Body giving a sanction for the revised dues, the administration has failed to implement it thereby leading to repeated disruption in the solid waste disposal system of the city,” said the secretary. Tushar Pawar, DMC (solid waste management), was unavailable for comments. —Sameera Kapoor Munshi
