NAVI MUMBAI: Three men from the Chota Rajan gang were arrested by Crime Branch's anti-extortion cell team for allegedly trying to extort Rs 26 crore from a Panvel-based builder. Three others, including Chota Rajan, have been declared absconding and all the accused were booked under MCOCA on Wednesday.
DCP (crime) Suresh Mengade said that Suresh Shinde (41), Ashok Nikam (29) and Sumit Mhatre (28) were arrested for extortion.
“The five accused, claiming to be members of Chota Rajan gang, even went to the builder’s Panvel office and demanded Rs 26 crore. He filed an FIR with the Panvel city police station on October 6.” The three accused were arrested on October 7.
