200 swimmers participate in Nerul meet

NAVI MUMBAI: Over 200 young swimmers participated in the district-level swimming championship held at Nerul Gymkhana on Sunday. The event was organized by Nerul Gymkhana at its aquatic pool under the flagship of Thane District Amateur Aquatic Association (TDAAA).
The day-long event was split into 32 events.
“When senior players get regular opportunity to participate in competitions, freshers hardly get a chance to prove their talent,” said Harsharan Singh, coordinator.
National medal winner and Vashi boy Anshuman Jhingran created waves to win top honours in all the events he took part in. In the freestyle events, the gold medal winners were Ved Sarmokadam and Mallika Sinha (under-12), Anshuman Jhingran and Aashani Joshi (under-10), Rishabh Das, Sawar Akuskar (under-8), Aryan Choudhary, Arya Wade (under-6). Top medal winners in back stroke events included Rishabh Pilla, Ria Tanna (under-12), Kalpit Singh, Aashin Joshi (under-10), Rishabh Das, Sawar Akuskar (under-8), Aryan Choudhary, Arya Wade (under-6).
