NAVI MUMBAI: Around 20 passengers, including 12 school students, were injured after the state transport bus they were traveling in toppled on its side near Garambi village in Murud on Tuesday.
Murud police said that that the bus driver, Devidas Dange (30), lost control of the vehicle at around 9.30am while trying to avoid another incoming vehicle and swerved to the side of the road, where the bus toppled on its side.
“The passengers had minor injuries on their hands, heads and feet. They were taken to the Murud Rural Hospital for medical treatment,” said a cop.
An eyewitness, who rushed the passengers to the government-run rural hospital, said that the passengers were lucky that they did not receive serious injuries. “The accident occurred in one of the internal roads, and not on the busy highway,” he added.
