The APMC police have arrested two youths and a woman for possessing counterfeit currency notes of Rs 1000 and Rs 500 denominations valued at Rs 2.64 lakhs.

NAVI MUMBAI: The APMC police have arrested two youths and a woman for possessing counterfeit currency notes of Rs 1000 and Rs 500 denominations valued at Rs 2.64 lakhs. On Thursday around 3.55 pm, the trio were nabbed at the NMMT bus stop near the APMC fruit market. When frisked, they were found in possession of fake currency hidden in a plastic bag.

The arrested accused are Jhony Rabiullah Shaikh (22), Sanaullah Shabakh Shaikh (27) and his wife Sharina alias Atarabanu Sanullah Shaikh (20), all residents of Mankhurd slums. The three accused have been booked under IPC Section 489 (b) (k) for dealing with counterfeit currency and bank notes and IPC Section 34 for common intention. The accused have revealed that they had brought the fake currency from Malda area in Giridh district, Jharkhad, informed police inspector (crime) Vivek Lawand.
