NAVI MUMBAI: In a span of four months after Tukaram Mundhe took over as the NMMC chief, he has suspended 10 senior civic officials on various charges and has initiated departmental inquiry against six others.
The officials facing suspension orders include assessor and collector and deputy municipal commissioner (property tax) Prakash Kulkarni, executive engineer Shankar Pawar, sectional engineer Kailas Gaikwad, Virendra Pawar, assistant municipal commissioners Balkrishna Patil, Sahebrao Gaikwad, officer superintendent Balkrushna Patil, clerk Subhash Sonawan, official Parshuram Jadhav and executive engineer Sanjay Khatal.
The list of civic officials facing departmental inquiry apart from senior health officers Dr Sanjay Pattiwar and Dr Deepak Paropkari are joint city engineer GV Rao, executive engineer Pratap Pagare, Dr B K Patil, medical officer and senior clerk Yashwant Utterkar.
“The practice of engaging in inappropriate and fraudulent practices needs to end. Hence disciplinary action is being taken to ensure officials will think twice before engaging in such unprofessional behaviour,” said Mundhe.
