Vishwas Nangre-Patil takes charge as CP

Nashik: Vishwas Nangre-Patil took charge as the commissioner of police, Nashik city, on Saturday from outgoing CP Ravinder Kumar Singal.

Having served in different parts of the city over the past 21 years, this is the first stint of the 1997-batch IPS officer as the CP of a city.

Reiterating his love for Nashik city, Nangre-Patil said that he always wanted to work in Nashik -- the land of Kusumagraj, whose many poems he knew by heart. “When you want something, the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it. The same happened with me.”

Citing his agenda for the city, he said women’s security and dealing with anti-social elements with an iron-hand would be his top priorities. “Police in plain clothes will visit all the hotspots where eve-teasing or harassment of women and girls generally take place. Miscreants found harassing women or girls will not be spared. Similarly, strict action will be taken against criminals on police record.”

“Preventive actions like undertaking a bond of good behaviour, externing criminals or booking them under MPDA will be taken to keep anti-social elements in check,” added Nangre-Patil.

While a grievance redressal day will be observed at all police stations every Saturday for facilitation of citizens, at the police commissionerate level five criminals from each police stations would be called every Friday to check their backgrounds, like the crimes committed by them, their modus-operandi, persons they are in touch with, current source of earning livelihood etc, said the new CP.

“Citizens should receive good service at the police station level. If someone comes to the DCP or CP office with some complaint, it clearly indicates that the concerned person is not satisfied with the service rendered at the police station level. The emphasis will be more on giving the best of service to citizens at the police station level,” said Nangre-Patil.

New SP for Nashik Rural: Arti Singh took charge as the superintendent of police of Nashik rural from Sanjay Darade. After taking charge, the 2006 batch IPS officer said, “Elections are around the corner. The police has a major responsibility in ensuring free and fair elections. The responsibility will be ably borne along with our officials and employees.”
