Various programmes mark water literacy campaign
NASHIK:
The seven-day campaign kicked off with a programme organised at collectorate with the water brought from eleven dams in the district and worshipped – following the pledge to save water.
Series of programmes have been scheduled in the rural areas and that include churning out slogans on water saving and water conservation, painting them on the walls of schools, conducting water literacy camps in select villages in select talukas, conducting meetings of water user committees, informing people about forming of water committees, taking farmers into confidence over economical and practical use of water, informing them about measures they can undertake to save water, etc.
Besides, essay writing, painting and elocution competitions have also been organised in the backdrop of the celebration of water literacy campaign.
Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer, Milind Shambharkar in his address at the programme held at collectorate appealed to the famers to save water not only for this season but even in future.
“Issue of saving water is not limited to this season, but always and hence the farmers should undertake measures to cut down the usage of water by more than 80 percent,” Shambharkar said.
