Smart city cell to procure scada water meters soon

NASHIK: The smart city cell has called for tenders from invited private agencies to provide the scada water meter, which will ensure proper water utilisation and billing as per usage.

The tender has been floated for implementing scada water meter and automatic meter reading/advanced metering infrastructure under the Nashik jeevan water supply pan city project.

The total network water pipeline in the city is 2,100 km. Automatic meter reading will have to be installed, alogn with scada water meters. Through Smart City Mission, the projects of 24x7 water supply in core areas and scada system are expected to be completed in two years.

The private agency involved in the project will have to redevelop water infrastructure in ABD and surrounding areas, water treatment at Bara Bangalow and Panchavati, electro-mechanical work at Dixit wada, transmission network, elevated storage

, rehabilitation and augmentation of WTP at Bara Bungalow and Panchavati and operation and maintenance for five years.

NMC officials said that there was no issue of water availability but the distribution network was not good. They said that along with improving the distribution network, scada water meter would also be beneficial in appropriate distribution and accounting of water supply in the city.

During the last standing committee meeting, corporators had suggested that areas like New Nashik and areas of lower strata should be spared of scada water meter as the residents would not be able to afford the bill. Officials said that the metering would ensure appropriate amount for the water used.

In the meantime, tender has also been invited for redevelopment of major and minor roads with infrastructure utility

services

including water supply and sewerage ABD area, road work including electrical and garden work, road work and storm water drain, electrical work, water distribution, garden, sewerage work.
