Nashik: Senior police inspector Irfan Shaikh has been attached to the police control room due to the anti-corruption case registered against one of the head constables of

Adgaon

police station where the PI was in-charge.
On Tuesday, the anti-corruption bureau (ACB) registered a complaint against a head constable for allegedly making a demand of Rs 20,000 in connection with a cheque bounce case that he was investigating. The complainant, who was accused of cheque bounce, had approached the

ACB

after the head constable allegedly made a demand of Rs 20,000 from him to do away with the inquiry.
The ACB verified the complaint and found substance in it following which they registered an FIR for offence punishable under Prevention of Corruption Act. The head constable was later arrested.
Commissioner of police

Jayant Naiknavare

said, “We are investigating how the demand for bribe was made by the accused policeman. An inquiry is being carried out by an officer of the rank of

DCP

. Hence, the police inspector has been attached to the control room until the inquiry is complete. Necessary action will be taken against all those found guilty as per the outcome of the enquiry.”
