NASHIK: Celebrating
Constitution Day on Tuesday, the Bhrashtachar Virodhi Jan Andolan presented copies of the Constitution of India to the Nashik divisional revenue commissioner, district collector and other officials.
Rajesh Pandit, a member of the Bhrashtachar Virodhi Jan Andolan, said, "We celebrated Constitution Day on Tuesday. The Indian Constitution was adopted on this day by the constituent assembly in 1949 and came into force on January 26, 1950.
We presented copies to the divisional revenue commissioner and the collector."
The Andolan's aim in presenting the copies was so that they would strive for betterment of society. "The people of the country are facing hardships because a handful of officers fail to abide by their duties - be it in the revenue department, or the legal department or any other government agencies. Once the officials are led by the seniors and start abiding by the Constitution of India are aware of their responsibilities and duties, there would be no need for anybody to agitate on the streets as there would be no injustice against anybody. The constitution has everything that a model and modern society requires to live in peace and harmony," Pandit said.
The copies were presented to the divisional revenue commissioner - Ravindra Jadhav, the resident deputy collector - Jitendra Kakusthe and regional transport officer - Jeevan Bansod. At the divisional revenue commissionerate, government employees were administered the oath to abide by the constitutional provisions.
"We also want to present copies to tribal development commissioner, the municipal commmissioner and others but as they were not in office today, we will meet them soon," Pandit said.
The social justice department, officials, employees and students, led by the regional deputy commissioner - Rajendra Kalal, took an oath to abide by the constitution, at a programme organized at Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Samajik Nyay Sankul on Tuesday.
