Schools reduce vacation time in Nashik

NASHIK: Many schools in the city have reduced the time frame of summer

vacation

for students as more time is required to conduct online classes. The schools claim that it is difficult to continue distant learning and complete the syllabus in the given time.

While some schools have reduced the days of summer vacation by a week, or 10 days, a school has decided not to give summer vacation at all.

schools have begun their month-long summer vacation from Thursday, May 7, as scheduled.

Himgauri

Aher-Adke, the chairperson of English Medium Schools’ Association, said “We have decided that the schools will give the summer vacation as per their discretion because every school is going through different problems in carrying out the effective teaching-learning process.”

Gems English Medium School has summer vacation from May 1 and will resume in the last week of the month.

“The first unit which was supposed to be conducted at the end of April, now will take place in the last week of May. We deferred the test as we were figuring out a way to conduct the test online,” said Adke, who is also the principal of the school.

Fravashi International School had the scheduled summer vacation from May 1 which will now begin from May 10. Online classes will resume from June 1.

“The parents had also requested us to give a break to the students as they have been attending virtual classes,” said Varsha Bhalerao, a teacher at Fravashi. The teachers will have to attend various online workshops during the break, said Bhalerao.

, the principal of Ryan International School, told TOI “We have decided not to give any break this year as the students are being taught only one subject per day.”

Delhi Public

School has also reduced the summer vacation by two weeks. “We have got the summer vacation from May 1 and will resume online classes from May 18, it was supposed to be till May 31,” said Labdhi Patni, a Class VIII student.

On the other hand, Ashoka Education Foundation has completed its summer vacation and started conducting classes from May 4.
