NASHIK: Two athletes from Nashik – Sanjeevani Jadhav and Sarvesh Kushare — won gold medals on the last day of the 61st Senior Inter-state athletics championships in Chennai on Tuesday.

Sanjeevani added the 5,000m yellow metal to the 10,000m gold she had won on the first day of the meet. She clocked 16:11:46s to top the podium ahead of Gujarat’s Shraddha Kothari (16:14:04s) and Himachal Pradesha's Seema (16:25:47s). However, Sanjeevani failed to make the cut for the Commonwealth Games. The qualifying mark for the CWG is 15:30s for 5000m and 31:00:05 for 10,000m event.

High jumper Sarvesh too won gold but failed to hit the qualifying mark (2:27m) for CWG as he registered a jump of 2:24m. Jessei Sandesh took silver (2:21m) and Bharathi Vishwanath (2:18m) took bronze.
