Nashik: Residents have demanded the widening of the Rasbihari-Meri stretch of the middle ring road, which connects the Gujarat highway and the Mumbai-Agra highway.
There has been heavy vehicular traffic both ways in this 3-km stretch of the middle ring road, but the width of the road is less.
Recently, the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) developed side strips on both the sides of the middle ring road in a 1km stretch between Rasbihari school and Miradwar Lawns towards Meri.

But the remaining stretch of 2 km is yet to be developed.
The residents want the road from two-lane to be expanded to four-lane considering the heavy volume of traffic. There are three wedding lawns on Rasbihari-Meri link road. Hence, the small width of the road causes frequent traffic jams.
D Suryavanshi, a resident of the area, said the NMC developed roadside side strips from the right and left sides of the middle ring road for a stretch of nearly one km, but it is not enough considering the heavy traffic.
“There is a need to make this stretch of Rasbihari-Meri link road from the present two lanes to four lanes. The traffic from Gujarat moves towards Mumbai or city areas through this link road,” said Suryavanshi.

“We want the entire 3 km stretch from Rasbihari school to RTO (regional transport office) signal on Dindori road to be developed into four lanes. NMC needs to widen this road to ease heavy traffic on the road,” said Sharad Jadhav, another resident of the area.
NMC officials said they widened a small section of the road by developing side strips on both sides. “But we will have to make financial provision about the widening of the entire 3-km road in the budget of the civic body. Hence, the widening of the works will be undertaken before the Kumbh Mela begins in 2027.
