Maharashtra: Police step up action against gambling & liquor sale

NASHIK: The Nashik city police have stepped up action against gambling dens and the illegal sale of liquor across the city.

DCP (Zone 1) Amol Tambe said that gambling dens and areas where illegal liquor is sold, are the places where criminals hang out all the time, which also leads to cases of body offences under the influence of alcohol.

On Tuesday, the Ambad police booked a person on the charge of illegally stocking and selling country-made liquor. The Ambad police raided an open plot near Vijay Nagar area of Cidco and seized country liquor worth Rs 1,455.

The Panchavati police too booked a person for selling country-made liquor illegally in the Valmik Nagar area and seized cash and liquor worth Rs 2,700 from him. On the same day, the Nashik Road police raided a gambling den in the Jail Road area and booked four people.
