NASHIK: A city court has extended the police custody of Advay Hiray, the brother of member of legislative council Apoorva Hiray of the Janrajya Party, till Tuesday.
He was arrested on Thursday for allegedly posting objectionable comments against
Chhagan Bhujbal, the district's guardian minister and the state's PWD minister, on a social networking site.
He was arrested arrested under different sections of the IT Act after a complaint was lodged against him by Vaibhav Devre of Swami Vivekanand Nagar.
S T Avasare, senior police inspector of the Ambad police station, said Hiray took ill after being remanded in police custody on Friday and had to be hospitalized on Saturday. On Sunday, he was discharged from the hospital. Hiray's custody has been extended as the police are still investigating the case.
Meanwhile, the police custody of four others - Dheeraj Magar, Vaibhav Devre, Mukesh Shevale and Amol -who were arrested for allegedly ransacking the liaison office of Apoorva Hiray, was extended till Wednesday.
On Thursday, the liaison office of Apoorva Hiray, the MLC from the Nashik division teachers' constituency, was ransacked by a mob. The mob also damaged Advay's car that was parked outside the office in Pawan Nagar area of Cidco. While leaving, the youths chanted slogans praising Bhujbal.
Advay (29) lodged a complaint, in which he accused Dheeraj Magar, Vaibhav Devre, Mukesh Shevale and Amol Naik of assaulting him and also ransacking his office.
Apoorva said that the attack was fallout of his political enmity with Bhujbal.
