NASHIK: Maharashtra minister and rebel NCP legislator Chhagan Bhujbal lashed out at party chief Sharad Pawar on Sunday for the latter's apology to the people of Yeola for selecting Bhujbal as the candidate in the previous assembly elections to represent them, reports Tushar Pawar.
"Not Pawar, but the people of Yeola wanted me to contest from the constituency for the sake of its development. Therefore, I selected Yeola. I won the Yeola assembly seat four consecutive times since 2004 due to the development work I did there," Bhujbal said.
Chhagan Bhujbal also questioned Pawar's choice of Yeola as the first constituency for his visit from among all constituencies represented by MLAs who have joined Ajit Pawar. He said he's being targeted because he is from the OBC community.
The Yeola MLA said more than 40 NCP legislators have sided with Ajit Pawar and asked: "How many constituencies will Sharad Pawar visit to apologise? Will he travel to Beed, Latur, Pune, and other constituencies as well?"
Bhujbal's comments highlight the internal conflicts within NCP, after Sharad Pawar asked the people for forgiveness for selecting "the wrong candidate for Yeola".
